Mom, I still love you !! - Part 2

The windows were filled with droplets of water; the fresh water had touched the earth which was yearning with thirst. Jenny stood at the window watching the rain and a few kids playing at the backyard.  Her eyes were dull and swollen and her face was serene.  She held the letter that Rajeev had written to her in one hand and held his photo in the other.

Wherever she turned to, she could see him, his care, his warmth, his affection, his presence. But alas it was all her reverie.   She held his photo close to her chest and hugged it tightly, trying to tell the world that she had held him back and he was still alive.

“How am I going to live without you, Rajeev?” she tried to question him knowing that he would never answer. She kept making designs on the windows with her fingers because of the moist that was left behind on them.

Lost in her thoughts, she barely heard the footsteps that were approaching her room.

“Mom…..” Jenny woke up hearing a loud and familiar voice.

“Mom… open the door….” Sarah banged the door of the room Jenny was in.
Impatiently, she kept knocking it hard.

“Give me a second, Sarah, I am coming”, Jenny replied rushing to open the door.
“What’s the matter, Sarah?....” She went on to question Sarah.

Sarah raised her hand and showing her the palm tried to ask her to stop talking.

She held out the photo in her hands, “Who is this Mamma?”

She flipped the photo and showed her father’s writing, “And isn’t this daddy’s handwriting”

Jenny felt a shiver run through her veins, her hands were suddenly chill and she could hardly speak. She stammered as Sarah interrogated.

“Please Mom, I need an answer. It’s killing me and just few moments ago I thought that this loss was worse for you than me.” Tears dropped her eyes and her cheeks were red.

“But I don’t feel the same anymore. Did you kill my dad?” Sarah was unstoppable, and her words pierced Jenny as though a sharp dagger was being pushed fiercely in her heart.

“Sarah, what are you talking, my child? How could I ever kill the man who loved me so much?”

“Yes mom, he was the man who loved you. Even now you didn’t accept it that you ever loved him.” Sarah examined.

“Sarah let me explain, please give me a chance”, Jenny begged.

“Are you going to explain to me how you cheated on my Dad?” Sarah began.

“I never cheated on your father, Sarah. I never could. He was a good man. He loved me very dearly and he wanted to see the same love in my eyes. I tried hard to love him. But love cannot be forced my child.” She looked into Sarah’s eyes in pain. And slowly Sarah could see her pain reduce as she continued to speak.

“It’s true that I married your father out of my own will but I was compelled to do so. I didn’t have a choice.” Sarah was no longer convinced with her mother’s explanation. “Mom, get to the point, what are you trying to explain?”

“I was a darling to my dad, just like you. Each time I saw Rajeev and you together I would feel the same warmth that I shared with my father. With due respect for him I never did anything against him and agreed to marry Rajeev even though I loved someone else.”

“You could have explained your father, mom.” Sarah retaliated.

“No I couldn’t. I did tell him about Karan.” She sat on the chair next to her as she began to speak about Karan and Sarah could say nothing but just listen to her.

“Karan and I studied in the same college. He was not of our religion or caste, but he was the man I loved”

Sarah cut her short and said, “And the man you still love, isn’t it ?”

Jenny turned towards her, ignoring her statement she went on, “When dad learned about our relationship he called me and spoke to me. He said he would never agree to it. I had decided to convince him, but destiny had other plans. Daddy was diagnosed with lung cancer and he was counting his days. His last wish was to see me happily married. And I have never regretted on marrying Rajeev. What I have regretted was that I could never love him completely”

“Your father encouraged me to write a book and I wrote about Karan and me. I never knew that my dream of writing a book would make me lose my husband. Rajeev read the book and connected it with the photo that he found among my clothes. He confronted me about Karan but he couldn’t accept the fact that I had lived a life of lie with him”

“I am sorry, Sarah”, she held her daughter’s hand pleading her for forgiveness. Sarah caressed her mother’s hands and cried in grief.

In a minute, she pulled her hands away from her mother and walked out of the room.

Jenny was again left alone, but she felt light after revealing the huge burden that she had carried for all these years.

The next morning, Jenny walked into Sarah’s room with breakfast. She found the door open and the room empty. She searched for Sarah throughout her room but couldn’t find her. However, she found a letter addressed to her in Sarah’s handwriting.

“Mom, I am sorry to leave you alone, when you really need me a lot !! But each time with you would remind me of Dad. I just need sometime for myself”

A month passed and there was no news from Sarah. Jenny had tried meeting all ends to search for her, but it was all in vain. However, she was not the only person who was doing this.

Mr. Sharma was Rajeev’s best friend and companion was also dying to meet Sarah. It so happened that a few days later he met Sarah in a supermarket.

“Sarah, Where have you been? Everyone is searching for you.” He asked compassionately.

Before Sarah could reply, he picked out a letter from his bag and handed it over to her. Sarah opened it inquisitively and impatiently as it was her father’s letter

“Dear Sarah,          I know that you are very angry on me and that you miss me. I am sorry to have left you. Please do not hurt your mother by questioning her. I walked out of her life just so that she lives her life with the man she loves. She would never have been able to do so if I was alive and away from her. She is a very nice woman, please accept her the way she is.

Love,

Dad"

Sarah, walked out of the supermarket in despise. She loathed her for leaving her but her love over shadowed it. She was not in a state to confront her mother again. She needed time to get accustomed to the fact that her father was no more.

It had been two months and there was no news about Sarah. Jenny’s life was filled with emptiness. She prayed each day in forgiveness.

And one day her prayers seemed to be answered. It was a bright Monday morning and Jenny had finished her morning prayers. She was about to enter her bathroom when her phone rang.

“Mamma, Sarah here”, It was jenny on line.

“Sarah, Please come back home.....”, Jenny begged.

“I will but before that please come to the central mall by 5.00 PM.” She hung up as soon as she said this.

Jenny waited impatiently for the evening to dawn. She was going to see her daughter. She was going to say a sorry and bring her home.

Central mall was filled with visitors and Jenny had reached by 4.45 PM. She sat on a table close to the porch. Her eyes searched for her baby, her daughter. As the clock ticked 5.00 PM, she heard someone pat her back.

“Jenny…..”, she turned in surprise as the voice sounded familiar.

There in front of her stood a man who was tall and well-built with a French beard to cover his age and make him look younger. He smiled as he said, “Jenny, my love how are you?”

“Karan……”Jenny’s eyes were filled with tears and surprise.

Karan held out a letter addressed to Jenny.

“Dear Mom,
I know it is difficult for you to accept this. But this is where you always should have been and this was the man with whom you should have taken the vows.
Please do not cry mom as dad also wanted this. He love you .
Mom, no matter what, I still love you.
Love,
Sarah”

Mom, I still love you !! - Part 1

Sarah sat on the rocking chair kept in her father's bedroom staring at the huge portrait of her father and mother. Rajeev Kurien stood in a black suit and Jenny Kurien sat on a chair beside him. There was a slight smile on Jenny's face and Rajeev's face was lit up as the portrait was made on their wedding day.

"You both were made for each other.....", She went near the portrait and brushed her hand across it. Her face portrayed a myriad of expressions, a million of unanswered questions.

The portrait was just a few meters away from the chair. There were numerous times she sat on the floor near the rocking chair and lay her head on her dad's knees. Rajeev would caress his daughter's head as he would listen to whatever she spoke.

There was not a single topic that they wouldn't talk about and he always was her first best friend.

"Dad, you think I should become a journalist. My friend's keep pushing me to this."

"Rehaan is such a rude boy Dad, he just does not know how to behave with girls."

She could hear her dad's voice everywhere in the room in the form of echoes. Today the room was void. There was a silence which scared her. The silence that was killing her deep within. It crushed her soul and pierced her heart. The man who had held her hand and taught her to face the world, to be strong and fight had given it all up so meekly.

22nd of April, 9.30 PM, she was busy reading a novel that her dad had gifted her a few days back. The lamp near her bed started flickering."I had just got this lamp repaired, I do not know what the problem is", She was annoyed. She leaned forward to set it right.

She was lost in her book and flipped through the pages as she finished with each page.  The house was void and even a small noise could be heard distinctly.

"Sarah....................." She was startled to hear a scream.
She kept her book aside and waited to confirm.

"Sarah......." It was Jenny and Sarah was sure of it. She dropped her book and her hand hit the lamp. It fell making noise,(Shrack....... kitr... khit.....) ...............least bothered about it she ran to her mother's rescue.

The biggest shock of her life awaited her. Rajeev lay motionless in a pool of blood. Beside him lay the knife with blood stains. His pulse was cut and blood was oozing.

Her mom stood next to him holding a letter which was wet with her tears.

"Jenny, No matter what, I will always love you !!! Forgive me !!"

Minutes later the ambulance arrived and he was declared dead.

It had been two days since her father had left her and Sarah had not left the room where her dad had spent many years of his life. The walls of the room spoke of him, of the love he shared with his family.

She sat back to recollect her moments with her dad and it suddenly struck her that he wasn't fine for almost a week before his death, she had found him gloomy. He had stopped eating properly and was trying to steal his eyes away from her.

"Nothing, my doll, I am totally fine."He had responded to her when she had enquired.

"Mom is something wrong between you and Dad", She tried questioning Jenny who was also dull.

They were the perfect couple. Rajeev would cuddle Jenny every now and then and Jenny would silently blush. There was a love that was always shown in their eyes which Sarah had seen.

He had encouraged Jenny to write after reading a few of her transcripts and Jenny's first book titled, "The unforgettable moments"was published just a month back. Jenny had instantly become famous and Rajeev had always stood by her.

The more she thought about her father's mysterious death, the more did she want to confront her mother about the last letter.

She knew there was some connection between the two. She walked to the portrait and hugged it and cried aloud. "Dad, I miss you, Didn't you think of me once before you decided to end it all."

Tears rolled down her kohl lined eyes. She felt the wetness in her face, "You  are not here to wipe my tears, Dad. Whom do I run to when i need you? Answer me, Dad.... Please don't stand motionless", She grieved pleading him to come back and hold her, tell her that all this was not true.

Her throat ached and she needed to gulp some water. While passing through her father's cupboard, she found it ajar. The door of the cupboard screeched as she opened it. There in front of her eyes lay a photograph of Jenny. It was a very old photograph taken in the snow in the Himalayas.

"Maybe this is a photo when mom was in college, but....", she held the photo close as she could see something more. " ..........who is the guy next to her?" She wiped the drops left on her cheek and flipped the photo.

There in her father's handwriting she read something that was going to solve the entire riddle.

"I waited for 26 years to find the love in your eyes which is so visible in this photograph"

Her eyes wide open she walked in haste to confront her mother.......

To be continued......

Lost and Found !!!!

On that enchanting evening,
When the night was sailing,

To make its way enjoying,

To take away the light and scaring.

Drops of waves soothed my hand,

As I sat, a thousand thoughts graving my mind,

Longing to be touched and embraced,

After all that’s been taken away.

Lone with the burdens,

Shackled and tormented,

Grieved and derided,

Misery my friend and peace my foe.

Tossed a bottle of gin,

Which with much difficulty,

Had tried to accompany,

But unable to smear the dainty worry.

A sudden touch gripped me,

Astounded and bewildered I turned,

To watch and perceive,

She sat beside me and laid me on her lap,

Solace and Silence she appeased me.

No place on this earth,

No touch could replace,

No warmth could inebriate,

It was my mother so meek and humble,

So angelic and blissful.

She held my hand and walked along,

Embraced me and held me close,

And in an instant chased me fears,

O ‘ mother thou art my angel,

Thou art my refuge when the day’s gone.

A small tribute to every mother who makes our life so wonderful. Happy mother’s day !!!

Scary hallucinations !!!

Smirking at one of my friend who sarcastically questioned me on leaving early from office, I picked up my handbag and left to the door to swipe my access card. My day had ended and I was happy to have taken my eyes off from the insane man made thing called a computer which unfortunately was my livelihood.

“Akka, Please don’t forget to buy the charger pin from Anna Nagar” I was reminded of my cousin’s request before I left from home earlier that day.

A scarf tied around my head and with a handbag, I got into a bus from my office bus stop and travelled for half an hour to reach Anna Nagar. Thanks to the traffic that moves in inches.

Roundtana bus stop was crowded as always and what more can you expect at the most peak hours of the day. A huge board read Mercy Electronics and that was my destination. It took me 10 minutes to juggle between the crowds and buy the charger pin. The needles in my watch showed 6.45 PM which meant that I had 25 minutes left to catch my local train to Perungalathur and I could do so only if I reached Nungambakam station on time.

A black and yellow share auto came and stood beside me; I climbed into it and sat at the last row. Barely had I sat that I realized that I was the only female inside with 6 men around me along with the driver.

And what do you think I would have started thinking about?????

Without any guesses, images of the Delhi gangrape case haunted me. 6 men alongwith the driver in a bus!!!!The only difference was that I was in a smaller vehicle and I had no male friend accompanying me too. The scenario was even more worst here. After having scrutinized on the chances of my escape from the share auto unharmed, I kept one leg of mine almost out in a position to be able to jump out at any instance.

My heart kept pounding as the auto sped. And unusually this driver didn’t stop at lot to load passengers which was exactly adverse to what the other drivers too. He passed by a number of people who kept waving their hand to stop him. A cold chill ran through my veins as I held my handbag tight almost pressing my stomach. My fingers started to feel cold which seemed to be anomalous in the month of March.

Reminded of face reading, I started reading the faces of the men who sat inside. There was a stout and rotund guy who had a huge moustache which almost covered half of her face. He sat exactly in front of me and kept turning to look at me. Every time he turned I had this urgent desire to fold my fingers and punch him across.

I realized that all these men were in between the age group of 25 to 30. (Which was another coincidence with the Nirbhaya case) On shifting my focus to the next man who was short and had these holes in his face which made him look even scarier, my chances to escape seemed to be meager.

There were two artificial red roses that stood on a plastic pot near the front mirror. It reminded me of the movie called Red Roses(called SigappuRojakal in Tamil). Earlier during the day I had read the plot of this movie and enjoyed the thrill it had portrayed. In a few minutes time would I be in the same situation as the victim in the movie? Such questions started luring me and making me even more petrified.

Lost in the thoughts of the movie, I failed to hear one of the men call out to me. He was sitting exactly opposite to me and staring at me with red eyes (Seemed to be drunk).“Time enna?”He asked me in a hoarse voice. I looked at my watch and stammered to answer him.

He murmured something into the ears of the guy sitting next to him and both of them started laughing. (Where they waiting for the right time to execute the plan??)I kept looking at the road to check how far I was from the destination. I still had to travel for ten minutes. Praying to God all along and trying to stop thinking negatively I continued my journey amongst 6 men.

With just half a kilometer left to reach my destination my BP level started to minimize and I somehow hoped that I would be safe in no time.

But the God’s had left me that day as exactly five minutes to reach my destination, the driver took a left turn which was no way leading to where I wanted to go.

“Anna, yen inga thirumbuninga?”(Why did u take a turn here?) I questioned the driver. Almost screaming at him and startling the others, the driver turned back in surprise.
“Traffic naala”,(because of traffic) he replied and sped.

He took another left turn and reached the destination. Hardly did he stop that I jumped out of the share auto and paid him the cash and walked briskly to the railway station.
The 7.10 local was on time and I caught the window seat thanking God that I could catch some fresh air.

A silent breeze swept across my face and ears and calmed the hallucinations that had tortured me for the past half an hour. It took me sometime to realize that I was actually safe, sound and unharmed. On looking back at what had happened that evening, it has become clear that every woman in India feels unsafe to travel alone.

I fear that in a few years’ time, we may succumb to heart attacks caused by such gory imaginations. It may have been that the men travelling alongside me in the auto were not those rapist kind of men, but the image that has been created because of the recent incidents increases the agony.

It would take an entire cultural change to stop this entire racket, which in turn would defy our ethics and moral values.

If you are a woman reading this post, I am sure you would be haunted by such scary hallucinations. So do let me know if you had any?

2012 - So it was... 2013 - So what will it be ?

Here goes my first post in the New Year. So before I start writing I would like to wish you all “A very happy new year” I know I am being late
in wishing but as it is rightly said, It is better late than never.
I start my first blog post in the New Year 2013 with the list of events that left an indelible impression in our lives (of course mine as well :)) in the year 2012.
(There have been many people putting up such lists. Yet I am here with my version)

2012- So it was....

Well, 2012 made me proud as an Indian in a lot of ways. And when I started penning them down the first thought that crossed my mind is that of the Olympics.
·         London Olympics 2012 proved to be lucrative to the sports arena of our country which laterally takes immense efforts to promote cricket. I am not condemning the fact but the way our heroes performed at the Olympics truly proves that we should support every game equally and encourage sports other that cricket too. India won a total of 6 medals comprising of 2 silver and 4 bronze which was considered to be India’s best at any Olympics.

·         Another important event that hit the headlines and was very well anticipated by the masses was that of the ‘End of the World’. When many people believed that ‘oh my, we are actually going to face the Doomsday’ I would just like to remind them that, “Hey people welcome to 2013, Guys wake up and usher into the new year, oops !!!  The Mayan Calendar had predicted it wrong.”

·         The presidential elections were something that both our country as well as The USA had in common this year. While Mr. Barack Obama took the oath to serve America, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee took the baton from Ms. PratibhaPatil to serve our country.

·         In a country which had attained its Independence 66 years ago, one man raised his voice against the government and corruption. He was one among us, ApnaAamAdmi. While he had backed Mr. Anna Hazare immensely, he began his political career this year by starting his own party “AAM AADMI PARTY”. He is none other than the Ramon Magsaysay Award winner, Arvind Kejriwal.
Well, Mr. Kejriwal, are we heading towards another freedom movement?

·         There were a number of unforgettable movies in the past year that served as an entertainer and an eye-opener. Movies like Barfi, Life of PI, Kahaani etc would surely be ones that everyone had loved.
·         Although, Aamir Khan’s Talaash didn’t actually do well at the box-office, his reality show, SatyamevJayate left a mark in everyone’s life. The show concentrated on various social issues prevalent in India such as female foeticides, child sexual abuse, dowry, medical malpractice, honor killings etc. I recently came to know that there was a special screening of the first episode of SatyamevJayate in a few rural villages of Gujurat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, the idea being that the show should reach every corner of our country. Great idea indeed!!!

·         Banning of bulk SMS in India for a period of fifteen days in the month of August to stop rumors from being spread against the people of the North East was one such issue that had affected me as well as teenagers. How awful it was, to be handcuffed to sending only five messages a day???

·         I would be doing injustice if I miss out on mentioning about one event that left all of us spellbound and aghast. This path breaking incident truly proved that yes the leaders of our country can actually take wise decisions. I am referring to the killing of Abdul Kasab. The man who was one among the 10 terrorists who killed innocent lives and made our commercial capital come to a standstill. I would consider that the execution of Kasab was considered to be the most secret mission carried out till date. No one really had a clue.

There were some events that shook us and awakened our spirits. Among these the very first that comes into my mind and of course yours too would be that of the horrific end of the 23 year old girl.
·         16th, December 2012 witnessed an incident that made me, as a woman, question myself, Am I safe in my country? The gangrape and assault of the 23 year old physiotherapy student aroused the sentiments of every Indian. We witnessed a new revolution which was themed, “Protests against rape”. While the protest was truly justifiable, the root cause of it made us ashamed. The incident has bought into light many topics like the law against this crime, the police department of our capital, the negligence of punishment towards this crime etc.

·         Mumbai railway came to a standstill when a major fire brokedown. Our commercial capital was in for a toss that time. And needless to say Mumbai without trains running on time is like trying to walk without legs.
·         Another shocking incident that hit the news was that of the Connecticut killings where one psycho took his gun and shot his mother and went around shooting innocent children.

That puts an end to my list of events that happened in 2012. I would forget to mention the fact that my blog posts increasedfrom 6 to 37 in 2012. So it was a great year for me with respect to my blog. Thanks to indiblogger which indirectly inspired me a lot to write.

2013 – So what will it be?

There are a number of exciting events that I look forward to this year. A few among those would be….
·         The verdict given to the criminals of the Delhi girl’s gangrape case. Also the change in law which would punish rapists equally.
·         The fight against corruption, so how far will we go?
·         The country is going to make way to witness another lok sabha election in 2014. So get ready to witness the promises that would be given.
·         With respect to entertainment I am waiting for a few movies to hit the theatres, Mani Ratnam’sKadal (the songs are what’s always on my iPod), Kai Po Che and 2 states (both based on ChetanBhagat’s novels) and also the number of Oscar’s “Life of PI” would win.(Keeping my fingers crossed as I truly loved this movie)

I really do not know what 2013 has in store for me, but yes I would continue to blog more frequently and put up better posts and keep my readers glued. So here am I signing off saying “Happy New Year!! And have a great one !!!”

To Shop, Hop to Shopper's stop....

"Cynthia, I totally forgot to mention about Ravi's wedding", My cousin was discussing with me about her tour plans. She had called me from the States an hour before her flight to India for a visit.
She hurriedly tried to tell me the details of the call, "Cynthia, could you please shop some clothes and accessories that I and your Jeeju(her hubby) could wear for the wedding. I was so lost in getting stuff ready for the visit that this totally slipped of  from my head"

"Sure, Didi I will buy it for you both", I was all the more happy to help her out.(I was being selfish in one way because I love shopping and this just gave me another chance be lost in the beautiful world of shopping :P)

I logged onto the Shopper's stop website as my cousin had been very particular about it. She had given me a list of detailing about her clothes and her husband's which kinda made it easier for me to select stuff for them.
"Go in for a light coloured Saree, you know I prefer elegant stuff", I remember her mentioning about it.

Deck me up:
"Sarees" The tab caught my eye and I started my search for a saree that would be gorgeous for a wedding and which was a little light in colour. After going through a number of varieties of sarees from netted to Georgette to designer ones, I landed up choosing "Ashika Net Embroidered Lehenga Saree"

Match me too:
Once the main dress for the evening was ready It became simpler to choose the accessories. I noticed that the saree had designs in the shape of a flower. "Bingo, that was going to make my search simple", I thought.
A saree, "What next? Any guesses? Well .... I had to decide on something to adorn her ears and her neck"
I kept searching for a necklace which had some design of a flower and yipee, Shopper's Stop had exactly what I was looking for, "Zaveri Pearls Flower Design Set" (My gosh I was envying it. It looked tremendously inviting :))

My next stop was, "Earrings" (Thanks to online shopping, everything seemed to be only tabs away :P) To suit a silver based necklace I went into the "Fine Jewelry" section and I found exactly something complimenting the necklace- "ASPEN Earring Model No: E0141AWD" The star design suited the necklace and looked similar to a flower .

My cousin had once told me that she fancied watches a lot. What more could match her desire than a Fossil watch ? "Fossil - Womens Watch - ES3018"

I tried my luck with a few RINGS. I found one that was trendy and stylish suiting her Saree."Lucera Silver CZ Ring RF5011"
She never walked out of her house without her mobile and a pack of tissues. I wanted a clutch that could suit her requirement and leave a fashion statement too. A light ping clutch with silver work on it caught my eye. "Haute Curry Clutch - ICORCL1"

Walking in style :
Last but not the least I had to select the perfect footwear. A flowy lehenga type Saree would be perfect on high heels. And my search was complete when I found the perfect one that suited the colour of her Saree and would make her look terrific. A well dressed woman with the wrong footwear spoils her image. So I had to be extra careful in choosing the sandals "HAUTE CURRY - Sandals"

Well I matched everything together and this was what I pictured her as --- A gorgeous beauty.

My next task was a Herculean one as I hardly have experience in choosing clothes for men. But there is one motto of mine that made it very easy for me find the perfect clothes for my brother-in-law. Well, the motto says that one can guess ones personality by the kind of clothes he or she wears.
My brother-in-law is a very soft spoken person with a dynamic personality. Keeping this in mind I started my search to make him look equally dashing.

Dress in style :
He was a businessman by profession and someone who didn't like wearing sherwanis and pathani suits. So I wanted to go in for something that was professional yet something which set up the festive mood. This was what I went in for "Blackberrys-Mens Slim Fit"

To match the suit I wanted the perfect cufflinks. I found one that matched exactly with the suit "Infinity Cufflinks -09025S"

He was a man of few words but a someone who loved having a collection of pens. So I chose a fine pen that would look elegant on his suit. "Vettorio Fratini Ball Pen - BELLAGIO1B"

My next stop was to choose a watch for him and being a brand freak I went in for an espirit watch "ESPRIT Timewear - Mens Watch - Atrium Chrono Brown" My cousin had asked me to purchase a wallet for him and I searched for something that would compliment hos suit "Hidesign - Mens Wallet"

My last stop was the footwear section. I loved it when men wore shoes which were pointed towards the toe. And I found one that suited my requirement "FRANCO LEONE - Mens Formal Shoes".

I tried to ensemble my selection for my jeeju and this was what I had selected.

With everything ready, I am waiting for my cousin and my brother-in-law to be dressed in their best.
